A widow receives restitution

*Aster, is a widow who made Aliyah from Africa. In order to make ends meet in Israel she rented out her apartment. However it soon became apparent that the checks being sent were invalid, and Aster realized she had been deceived and taken advantage of. It was in a state of hopelessness that she shared her desperate situation with our CBN Israel staff.

The Lord has given clear instruction in His word of our responsibility as His people:

Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.” – Isaiah 1:17

It is our duty to act on behalf of those who are helpless and suffering and who lack an advocate. Aster most certainly fell into that category. As our CBN Israel staff listened to Aster’s story they sought the Lord for wisdom and favor and began the process of providing assistance. Our team  found a lawyer who in turn sent a letter to a judge. They learned that a letter of eviction from the apartment for the renters who had not paid could take months to process as it traveled back and forth through the mail, so the staff of CBN Israel offered to take the letter by hand and drive a long distance in order to obtain a signature from the renter directly. God answered our prayers for wisdom and favor and we were able to return with the signed paperwork Aster needed to move forward with the process of restitution.

Aster was amazed that someone would go out of their way to lift her heavy burden and act in her defense. “No one else does the things you do for us,” she shared.

Because of our partners who support the work of CBN Israel, we are able to give our time and resources to help women like Aster. However, Aster is just one of many widows who need both care and defense. It is a job much larger than what a handful of people can do. This is why CBN Israel has begun training seminars for volunteers of local congregations in order to multiply the Lord’s work throughout Israel. Join us in praying for God to send us those with hearts to love and serve the widows, the fatherless, single mothers and families in financial crisis in and among the body of Messiah.

We thank you for all your prayers and support! God bless you.
