‘Welcome the King of Glory’ conference during Sukkot

How good and pleasant it when God’s people live together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, begins on the evening of Oct. 4 this year and many in Israel are already preparing for the holiday including a group of Israeli Messianic leaders planning to host a special gathering for ministry leaders and believers from around the world.

The conference, called “Welcome the King of Glory,” will take place from Oct. 9 to 13.

The diverse line up of ministry leaders hosting and leading the event includes Avi Mizrahi, Claude Ezagouri, Tony Sperandeo, Shmuel Birnbaum, Israel Pochtar, Benjamin Berger, Asher Intrater, Eddie Santoro, Ariel Blumenthal, Gil Afriat, Argo Andargachew, Michael Yaron, Eitan Shishkoff, Avishalom Tekle, Guy Cohen, Peter Tsukahira, Reuven Berger, Rick Ridings and Tal Robin.

“This is the first time that a group of Israeli leaders are leading a gathering where we are inviting the native leaders from the far islands to come and celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles with us,” Avi Mizrachi told KNI.

The Israeli leaders believe that coming to Jerusalem for Sukkot this year will be particularly significant as 2017 marks a special moment on God’s calendar:

  • 120 years since the First Zionist World Congress
  • 100 years since the Balfour Declaration
  • 70 years since the United Nations Resolution 181 calling for the partition of British Mandate Palestine into a state for Jews and a state for Arabs
  • 50 years from the Six-Day War and unification of Jerusalem

“The conference is an opportunity to thank God for what He has done with our people so far and to welcome Him in our midst through our sincere worship,” Ezagouri, leader at Morning Star Fellowship in Tiberias, told KNI. “It is also to proclaim our unity with our brothers and sisters from the nations.”

Ezagouri shares that the concept for the event came about as ministry leaders from the nations asked the Messianic group to pray about inviting them for a “Welcome the King of Glory” conference in Jerusalem.

“They asked us to organize and lead the conference,” Ezagouri said. “And it seems fitting that the local Body of Messiah would take the authority to humbly invite the believers from the nations to Israel for such a time as this.”

Connecting Israel at this time to scriptural prophecy, Ezagouri said: “Isaiah 27:6 describes three prophecies that we can see are developing in our age. First, Isaiah says, the people of Israel will take root upon its own land. Then there will be a budding and blossoming which speaks of the spiritual restoration of God’s people. Finally Israel will cover the world with fruit.”

“For the Body of Messiah to gather together in the land at this critical point in history, when prophecy is unfolding, brings glory to God,” Ezagouri continued. “It is time for us to trust him for our own ministry and invest in some corporate time to be in the Lord’s presence.”

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
