As the Christian world began its celebration of the Resurrection on Sunday, April 1, 2018, the Jewish world began the Feast of First Fruits which is celebrated on the first day of the week (Sunday) after the Sabbath of Passover week. Yeshua (Jesus) is the First Fruits from the Dead. This year the Passover date and the Christian “Easter” came unusually close together even though it was purposely orchestrated long ago that the two should never coincide on the identical date. The closeness this year almost seems like God calling our attention to His intentions to make of two – Jew and Gentile – one in the Messiah. Praise be the name of the Lord! Whether in Passover or Easter celebrations, there are many taking part in family gatherings whose eyes are not open in the least to the spiritual truth behind the holidays. Let’s pray for God’s great mercies to the opening of blind eyes, “that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened to know the hope of His calling and the riches of His glory.”(Ephesians 1:18)
The Israeli schools are closed for the Passover holiday, and many of the children and teens are in Messianic camps. Please pray for the continuation of the good news going forth in ministry outreaches happening during this time. Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. Psalm 127:3-5 Pray for the safety of all during this time. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7
Prayer for Israel News
There is a great anticipation building for the coming celebration of the modern State of Israel’s 70th birthday and what that means spiritually. Many of the Israeli ministries are writing their own thoughts, and most consider it one of the great miracles of our time. Many have also recognized that the US President has increased the sense of expectation with Trump’s decision to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem on Israel’s 70th anniversary. The Seventy number has distinctly spiritual meanings (like forgiveness, for one thing) and all of expectations for Israel’s salvation is surely on God’s prophetic timetable. Others have written that the continuation of Israel is ultimate proof of a God who loves His creation and keeps his plans for Israel. Yes and amen! The Lord has spoken and He shall surely do it. For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who shall annul it? Isaiah 14:27
Even as we rejoice in these truths, we also observe the intense opposition to God’s intentions in Israel. On the same day as the Passover commenced, the terrorist group Hamas that rules in Gaza launched an offensive in an organized demonstration near the border fence. This has been described as a battle disguised as protest, and indeed that is what it is. As one Israeli ministry quoted recently, it is like a popular Arabic proverb, “First he hits me. Then he starts to cry. Finally he runs ahead of me to the judge and sues me.” Since this is to be a prolonged “protest” spanning over six weeks, there is danger on both the military front to our IDF soldiers and and on the international media front.
Pray that the Lord would break up this plan to trigger violence and strip up bad press for Israel. This land-border assault is similar to the 2010 attempt to break through the Israeli-Egyptian sea blockade of the Gaza Strip that caused such outrage in the international media: Just last month, the anti-Semitic activist group “Free Gaza” finally admitted that the violence was triggered by them, not by Israel. Pray that what the enemy has meant for evil in this scheme, that God will turn to good for those that love Him and are called according to His purposes. (Romans 8:28)
We remember in all these tribulations against Israel that in Romans 9:17 it says “For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: ‘I raised you up for this very purpose” and in Exodus 9:16-18: But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you My power and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth. You still set yourself against My people and will not let them go. Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.
