Israel’s ambassador to US: We have clear evidence Obama orchestrated UN vote

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, reported on Monday that there is “clear evidence” that President Obama orchestrated the United Nations Security Council vote on Resolution 2334, labeling all settlements as illegal and calling on a total halt of settlement growth.

In an interview with CNN on Monday, Dermer reported that the evidence would be given to the Trump Administration to decide whether to release the information or not. He stated “We have evidence for that. We will present that evidence to the new administration in the appropriate channels, and then they can decide whether they want to release it to the public. Obama gave the Palestinians exactly what they wanted: He gave them the ammunition for a political, diplomatic and legal war against Israel, by not vetoing.”

Dermer added ״I think it was a very sad day and really a shameful chapter in US-Israel relations. We are deeply disappointed by this decision that was made.”

Meanwhile in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that Israel is suspending its aid to Angola, one of the states 14 states that voted for the resolution. Netanyahu has recalled Israel’s ambassadors from Senegal and New Zealand, and cancelled all diplomatic visits to Senegal. The Prime Minister also cancelled a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
