LISTEN: Matthew 4: In the power of the Spirit

In the continuation of the book of Matthew, Rev. David Pileggi reminds us that at His Baptism, God affirms and gives identity to Jesus. It looks like Jesus is set up for success however He is led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. This is a reminder of how the Spirit may lead us to testing and difficulty …’ risky living, not everything is safe and comfortable.’ Rev Pileggi asks, “Why does Jesus need this?” and answers, “Jesus was tested like Adam, Eve and Israel however He alone would pass the test.” He goes on to say that we are God’s beloved, He loved us first, and as such He has given us the weapons of the Spirit, Faith and Trust so that we too, in Christ, will overcome.
