In Num 14: 28-35… we read about how the people of Israel where in the desert for 40 years, they complained against God and only when that generation died, the new generation entered to the promise land. (When I read the story, God reminded me that many times we are not very different from them in the spiritual, we stay captive in the desert because of our bad attitude and our unforgiveness.)
A few nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and God started to speak to me, He asked me “Vero, do you know why the people of Israel stayed in the desert for 40 years?” I replied, “Because they were complaining?” He said, “They didn’t only complain, they had a bad attitude”. And then he continued talking to me about the keys He has given us in order to be set free from our spiritual wilderness. He said to me “ in order for you to be set free, besides having a good attitude you need to forgive and bless your enemy” and then He reminded me of an experience that I had few years ago…
I found a job working in a factory with a woman that was making my life miserable. This woman,*Annamarie, was so nasty to me and acted like she was out to get me. I was doing quality control at that time so it was my job to make sure that everything being produced was up to standard. For those who were told to do their work over again, I was not their favorite person.
Once, while sharing my frustrations with my mother, she said something I’ll never forget. “Vero, you should bless this woman.” I thought, “No way, Annamarie is hurting me with no reason!” But my mother wouldn’t let up. “Vero, just bless her.” I hated the thought of blessing someone who didn’t deserve it, but I knew my mother was right. I gritted my teeth and voiced out loud, “God… bless…Annamarie…in Yeshua’s name.” For many days, the circumstances did not change. But every day, God gave me the strength to privately pronounce a blessing over her. This went on for several months until one day, Annamarie came to me and said, “I have been so mean to you and you have done nothing against me. Please forgive me.” I was in shock! I could not believe what my ears were hearing!
Annamarie was an atheist. But God was the one who opened her eyes to see the truth and to repent. From that day forward Annamarie was kind to me and we worked together in peace. This was a big lesson for me. I learned the power of blessing and forgiveness.
Since that experience, whenever someone angers me, the Holy Spirit takes me back to that experience in the factory and I without hesitation, voice a prayer of blessing and forgiveness over that individual. Like anything in our lives, the more we practice something, the easier it becomes. Today I feel so much more free!
Take a moment to be still and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to show you if there is someone you have not yet forgiven. When He highlights that person you have held in a cage of unforgiveness, there is something you must know. When you hold on to the hurt that others have done to you, YOU are the one that remains in bondage. You are the one drinking the poison that you desire for them to drink. However, when you release them, forgive them and bless them in the name of the Lord, you shall be free! God will lead you out of slavery to that unforgiveness and into His promised land of blessing. Let’s pray together.
“Father, we thank You that You sent Yeshua to not only cover OUR wrongs, but to remove them from us as far as the east is from the west. You say that if we do not forgive others, we ourselves will not be forgiven of our sins. Lord, forgive me for holding on to the wrongs others have done. I forgive (name of the person) now and bless him/her in the name of Yeshua. Thank You for Your freedom Lord! Amen.”
Now, walk in the freedom of forgiveness and experience the joy of the Lord every day in your life!
God bless you from Zion.
