IDF Patriot missile system intercepts Hezbollah drone from Syria

The IDF intercepted a drone from Hezbollah in the Golan Heights on the Syrian border with Israel Tuesday.

The drone, which the IDF confirmed was Iranian-made, was shot down by the Israel Air Force’s Patriot missile system after it entered the military buffer one on the Syria-Israeli border territory Tuesday afternoon.

The IDF confirmed the incident, stating that it will “not allow any infiltration or approach toward the Golan Heights area by terrorist figures from Iranian forces, Hezbollah, Shiite militias or Islamic Jihad,” a senior officer stating “We will respond to every action very clearly and we will act to prevent any future attempt.”

According to the IDF, the drone took off from the Damascus International Airport before the IDF began following the drone that entered the demilitarized zone on the border with Syria before being intercepted by the Patriot system. The drone was being used to collect intelligence.
