Prayer for Community News

David Ben Gurion declared Israel to be an independent state on May 14, 1948, which, in the Hebrew calendar is the second month of Ayar on the 4th day. This year, Ayar 4 falls on April 19th, 2018. Among Messianic Jews and Christians alike, there are high expectations for the spiritual ramifications of this 70th anniversary of the modern state of Israel. Yes, increasing opposition of enemies to God’s plans, but also yes and amen to the increasing Light breaking forth among the Jews, among Palestinian Arabs, and among the surrounding Middle Eastern nations as God’s promises are fulfilled from on High.

Pray also for the Light to break forth in the presentations of Handel’s Messiah performed in Hebrew and overflowing with the Scriptures concerning Yeshua.  As this 11th year of performances in Hebrew take place in the next few weeks, pray that God will open veiled eyes to the Truth of His Salvation, Yeshua.

Pray for the Israeli Messianic community who have Israel’s Hope to share with all who are weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28) Pray for refreshing from the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3) within the believers, that the rest Yeshua has given them will overflow into the community. Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks, Yeshua said in Matthew 12:34. Pray for this overflow of heart, even as the disciples prayed in Acts 4:29-30, “… grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

We continue to pray and lift up Jerusalem pastor Eddie Santoro who has undergone a second extremely dangerous brain tumor today (Tuesday, April 10th). We do not know how the surgery has gone, but we ask for you to join with us in prayers for this servant of God who is such a delightful  and beloved minister of God in Israel. We commit Eddie to You, O God, for we know that even all of our collective love for him on earth, does not match Your own love for him.

Prayer for Israel News

The challenges that Israel faces currently are enormous. To the north, the civil war in Syria is especially vexing to Israelis as the Syrian president continues to use chemical warfare against his own people. Israel has been acting with a high level of morality all along in response to the magnitude of tragedy spilling over from that civil war across Israel’s borders. Many of the wounded have been treated in Israeli hospitals and Israeli jets may have struck Syria in retribution for Assad’s use of deadly chemicals.  A thoughtful man once wrote, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Pray for Israeli leadership who are making decisions that sometimes places Israel in an even harder place because they have chosen to fight against the evil even when it is not against them.

Pray for fact-based reporting, with no spin against Israel —and for truth loving people in the nations to discern the facts from the spin. For example, the current schemes of Hamas in Gaza to use the issue of “open borders” to draw international support. The real Hamas hidden agenda is to wipe Israel off the map, not the global “open borders idealism.

This week we have many perspectives from Messianic believers in Israel to help our Christian friends in the nations to understand what is really going on. There is a historical perspective to the Arab-Israeli conflict, and there is a twisting of the facts in the current Gaza hostilities.

In one of the song of ascents, Psalm 122:6-9, the Psalmist King David sang,

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
   and security within your citadels.”
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
   I will seek your prosperity.
